A Tourist In My Own Town

I want to take more pictures. I want to explore new places in Boston. I want a tea cup pig. I've decided the best way to hold myself accountable for taking more pictures and exploring more places is to start a photo-blog where I can show and tell all you lovely people what I've been up to in a week. As for the tea cup pig, I'm still working on that. I'll update the blog once a week with new stories, pictures and hopefully a new experience under my belt! And when I get my tea cup pig (and I will get my tea cup pig) the blog will likely be filled entirely with pictures of me and the pig on blissful excursions around the city. But until    then, here's some non-pig related stuff.

So, I'm pretty pumped that Hockey is starting up again this week. Baseball is painfully boring. And football is great, but largely because there is always food and the announcers say a great deal of sexual innuendos. "Sack Masters on the edge" and "they have poor ball maintenance" are just two great examples. Hockey though, hockey is great with or without food and inappropriate comments.

Sean and I went to a preseason game on Thursday! It's rather unlikely we'll be able to afford regular season tickets this year, so we decided a pre-season game was a great substitute! I forgot to take pictures during the game, but I took this one after. Sean and I were desperate for a distraction in the T station while these annoying girls loudly lied to everyone, saying they kissed each other on the kiss cam. That never happened. They made it up entirely. So I took pictures to distract us! And I like this one!

If you had seen me on Saturday, you'd have thought I was a tourist. All I was missing was a sweatshirt tied around my waist and a fanny pack. I'll have to borrow yours next time mom :)! Sean had to work, so I set out to explore and take pictures. I had never been to the public library, so I began there. This fountain was all the rave in the courtyard at the library! Makes sense though, a jovial naked woman holding grapes just out of reach of a naked baby? Who doesn't want to bask in that?
A woman was so entranced by the statue that while distractedly taking pictures of it, she collided with an occupied baby carriage. Hysterical.

I wish I knew the history behind the two statues outside of the library. Two hooded woman, one dreamily holding a circular bulb type thing, the other one a paintbrush and palette; both looking at one another longingly. I like to imagine that the one with the painters palette is in love with the other and has offered to paint her while she dreamily holds a random orb. But they'll forever be separated by the concrete that holds them in place. Tragic!

As I was reading 1984 on my kindle in the square, I was fortunate enough to see the Occupy Boston march pass by! They had a lot of cute puppies with them, that was the best thing about it.

This woman is pimpin. Look at her hat! And her rose colored glasses! This is me in 50 years. A girl can only hope, right? The best thing about this woman is that I took this in Copley square on Saturday. And I saw her again today, Monday! She was wearing the same hat and sunglasses, but she changed her shirt to one with a rad sunflower print.

That's all for this week's post. I'm hoping that for next weeks update, I'll have a picture of myself and the rose colored glasses woman together.  Fingers crossed everyone!
